Biography
Khaled Hosseini was born on March 4, 1965 in Kabul, Afgahnistan. He grew up in a more
"privileged" household of five, with a sister, Raya, who he does not recall ever receiving gender
discrimination, although many girls around them did. In 1970, Hosseini's family moved to Iran
because of his father's job, but soon after, they returned to Kabul. He received a biology degree from
Santa Clara University and then studied to get his M.D. He went on to write three novels focused
around Afghan families. He has been awarded many bestsellers and other accomplishment.
